Dormakaba acquires Skyfold to enhance presence in N. America
The recent press release from Dormakaba on July 14th, revealed that Dormakaba has acquired Canadian Skyfold Investment Inc. based in Montreal, Quebec. Dormakaba is acquiring 100% of Skyfold and will be integrating the company into the existing local organization within the Moveable walls segment over the coming months.
Skyfold is the leading premium provider of automated vertical folding wall systems. They were the first to develop vertical folding walls that automatically fold together upwards and stow away in the ceiling, instead of stacking sideways as with horizontal systems. They have a strong presence in the North American market and serve various market segments with their patented system, specifically the office and educational sectors as well as hotels and convention centres.
“The partition wall systems business is moving increasingly towards automated products. By acquiring Skyfold, we are enhancing our product portfolio in line with this trend while simultaneously strengthening our geographical presence in the attractive North American market,” says Christoph Jacob, COO Moveable Walls. Skyfold has a well-established network, among architects and other decision-makers, as well as a strong sales network in North America, which makes this acquisition invaluable for Dormakaba.
Dormakaba group is the moveable wall industry leader of automated operable walls. The group has an impressive 16,000 employees. It is one of the top three companies in the global market for access and security solutions. They are a single source of products, solutions, and services related to doors and secure access to buildings and rooms. This is in large part due to their major brands Dorma and Kaba. Dormakaba is being represented globally in over 130 countries by its own activities and numerous cooperation partners. With the acquisition of Skyfold, their presence will continue to grow internationally via the North American market.
